Specification

The father of Maria Theresa, Emperor Charles VI, had no male heir, so he tried through various treaties and agreements to secure her smooth succession to the throne, which he did not succeed in. After his death (1740), European powers led by Prussia began an attack on her inheritance, and Maria Theresa had to fight for her rights for many years. Only the Hungarian estates remained loyal to her, recognizing her as her father's successor, significantly supporting her in wars, and agreeing to her coronation as Queen of Hungary. The day of the coronation was set for June 25, 1741. The coronation took place in Bratislava (then Pressburg), which was the coronation city of the kingdom from 1536 to 1830. During her reign (1740-1780), Maria Theresa gradually reformed practically every area of public and economic life on the principle of enlightenment. During her reign, she gained respect and admiration for her statesmanship, political and reform activities, and the respect of her opponents. She died in Vienna on November 29, 1780.
