The commemorative medal for Czechoslovak volunteers 1918 – 1919 represented a Czechoslovak association medal, which was established by the Czechoslovak Volunteer Association in 1938, in accordance with the government decree of the Czechoslovak Republic dated October 22, 1937. The medal was intended for all volunteers who, in the years 1918 – 1919, were militarily engaged on the side of Czechoslovakia in various military actions related to the fights in Silesia and Slovakia, which broke out shortly after the establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic with Poland and Hungary.
Description of the item: The main motif is a lily cross, set into the medal. In the center is a plastic monogram ČS, through which a sword is led with the tip upwards. On the left side is the year 1918, on the right 1919. The reverse features the year in Roman numerals, MC MXXXVIII, at the top are four small symbols, in the foreground is the emblem of Bohemia, above it Slovakia, to the right Silesia, to the left Moravia. The symbols are surrounded by two intertwined thorns. At the bottom is a linden branch under which are the initials O.P - the designer of the medal, Captain Oldřich Pilz. Around the edge is a stronger border. The ribbon is breast, slip-on, 40mm wide.
