The company Münze Österreich is the only official mint in Austria. Its history spans a full 800 years into the past, and during this period, it minted coins such as groschen, gulden, kreuzers, and euros. In addition to various coins, the Austrian mint also offers gold investment bars.

A special type of gold bar called Kinebar is equipped on the back with a patented security feature – the so-called Kinegram. This hologram, which changes color depending on the angle of view, depicts a Lipizzaner – a noble horse closely associated with the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. The front side of the bar then presents the following stamped attributes – the Münze Österreich logo, the weight and purity of the gold used, the quality seal of the Argor-Heraeus company, and a unique serial number. The bar is sealed together with a certificate of authenticity in protective foil, which must not be broken.

The manufacturer of the Münze Österreich bars is the Swiss mint Argor Heraeus, owned by the German refinery Heraeus. Until 2017, the Münze Österreich mint was a minority owner of Argor Heraeus, and therefore the cooperation in the production of bars continues.
