The main reason for writing this publication was primarily the absence of literature that would allow broad groups of collectors easy access to basic legal issues related to collecting. An equally significant reason was the fact that many amendments have recently come into effect, significantly affecting some rights and obligations of collectors. There are many publications dealing with individual collecting areas that emphasize the perspective of the relevant professional discipline. Most often, these are publications in the fields of history and economics. However, the legal dimension of these activities, processed in a concise and comprehensive form, is not yet available in Slovakia.
