In 2021, Monnaie de Paris launched a series focused on literary styles and authors who have marked literary history in France and abroad. After celebrating poetry in 2021, theater in 2022, and adventure novels in 2024, Monnaie de Paris honors the sci-fi author Jules Verne in 2025, on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of his death.

On the obverse of the coin, an imposing prehistoric monster is depicted in the foreground. Right behind it, Professor Otto Lidenbrock gazes intently at the horizon. In the center, a raft sailing on "Lindenbrock's Sea" almost collides with two rival sea creatures. The characters of this fictional story, evolving in a mineral universe, are depicted on the right. On the left, an inscription of runic signs, which led the adventurers to the entrance of the Sneffels volcano, is engraved into a giant mushroom. In the background is the Italian volcano Stromboli, through which the explorers emerged from the center of the Earth. The title of the book is in the center of the coin, with the date and author's name at the bottom.

The reverse side is common to the entire Art of the Quill series. Several iconic quotes can be read from them, such as Voltaire's "Le mieux est l’ennemi du bien", Dante Alighieri's "Lasciate ogne speranza voi ch'intrate", William Shakespeare's "To be or not to be: that is the question" or Nietzsche's "Was mich nicht umbringt, macht mich starker". In the center of the coin is an engraved feather, and below it is the name of the series. At the bottom of the coin is the abbreviation RF along with the hallmark of Joaquin Jimenez and the engraving workshop.
