The Tour de France is the most famous cycling race in the world.

It was first organized in 1903 by the newspaper L'Auto with the aim of stimulating the public and primarily to triumph over its rival Le Vélo. Today, it is the third most-watched sporting event in the world, right after the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the finish line on the Champs-Élysées, Monnaie de Paris presents a complete two-part collection. The first part in gold and silver will be available from March 27, 2025, 100 days before the start of the Tour de France in Lille-Nord de France. Collectible coins and mini medals will be available a few days before the official start on June 17, 2025.

The theme of this coin is the official route of the Tour de France, depicting a cyclist in front of the official route that all cyclists will take in July 2025. Half of the cyclist is divided into two parts by a line representing the stage and is illustrated by a drawing. The outline of the coin and the rays resemble a bicycle wheel.

On this common reverse side, the four jerseys of the Tour are heraldically depicted. The marks also show RF, the nominal value, and the year. The Tour de France logo is located at the top and the hallmark at the bottom.
