Agatha Christie, born in 1890, is one of the most widely read authors in the world and remains an iconic figure in crime literature.

Agatha Christie, known for her intricate plots, rich characters, and extraordinary attention to detail, captivated millions of readers with her art of twists, red herrings, and cleverly hidden clues.

Agatha Christie is still recognized today as the "queen of crime" and her works continue to inspire literature, theater, and cinema. In 2026, 50 years after her death, Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to the incredible legacy of Agatha Christie.

The obverse of this coin features a steam river excursion boat – inspired by the one that inspired Agatha Christie's novel and where she began writing it – sailing on the Nile. The Nile is recognizable from the surrounding scenery: palm trees and majestic pyramids in the background. The name of the novel Death on the Nile ripples in the water amidst the wake caused by the ship's voyage. On one of the pyramids, the face of Hercule Poirot is reminiscent of his iconic mustache and the Egyptian eye, adding a touch of mystery to the scene, as if the detective is closely watching to uncover the secrets hidden by the ship's passengers.

The reverse side is common to the entire Art of the Quill series. It features several iconic quotes, such as Voltaire's "Le mieux est l’ennemi du bien", Dante Alighieri's "Lasciate ogne speranza voi ch'intrate", William Shakespeare's "To be or not to be: that is the question" or Nietzsche's "Was mich nicht umbringt, macht mich starker". In the center of the coin is engraved a quill, and below it is the name of the series. At the bottom of the coin is the abbreviation RF along with the hallmark of Joaquin Jimenez and the engraving workshop.
