Moulin Rouge is one of the most famous cabarets in the world. It is located in Paris, at the foot of Montmartre, and is recognizable by its iconic red windmill.

It was founded in 1889 by Joseph Oller and Charles Zidler for the World's Fair in Paris and from the moment it opened, it became an essential place of Parisian nightlife, combining parties, music, dance, and entertainment. It is best known for popularizing the French cancan, an energetic and daring dance that became a symbol of freedom and the festive spirit of the Belle Époque. Many famous artists, such as Toulouse-Lautrec, contributed to its fame by immortalizing its dancers and unique atmosphere. Over the decades, Moulin Rouge keeps up with the times, modernizes, and at the same time retains its identity.

At Moulin Rouge, all aspects of crafts are handled internally, ensuring unique expertise and complete control over every detail, from artistic creation to stage performance. From the rigor of ballet to the finesse of cuisine, including the design and creation of costumes in craft workshops, costumes, sets, technical staff, dancers, and artistic teams work closely together to keep the excellence of the establishment alive.

The cabaret is sold out every evening, with two performances held daily, every day of the year. Moulin Rouge, a true Parisian institution, welcomes audiences and tourists from all over the world, confirming its international reputation and remaining a strong symbol of French culture.

Know-how and crafts at Moulin Rouge.

The success of Moulin Rouge relies on many traditional know-how:

Costume designers: In the Moulin Rouge design studio, seamstresses and tailors create new, richly decorated costumes for each performance, combining original materials, pearls, and rhinestones. In collaboration with other workshops, they ensure that the costumes are of the highest quality, spectacular, and at the same time comfortable for the performers.
Feather makers: Maison Février is a bright workshop where feather makers create intricate patterns using feathers. Since 1957, their unique expertise has enhanced the costumes of Moulin Rouge dancers, combining elegance, delicacy, and durability.
Embroiderers: Embroiderers at Atelier Valentin adorn costumes for the show with sequins, pearls, and rhinestones. Using traditional techniques such as Lunéville embroidery and needle embroidery, they preserve exceptional French craftsmanship, bringing elegance and refinement to Moulin Rouge costumes.
Bootmakers: Maison Clairvoy, founded in 1945, is a shoemaking workshop specializing in performing arts and creates custom shoes for artists. Craftsmen handcraft shoes that combine quality, durability, and comfort, including the famous French Moulin Rouge Cancan boot, designed to protect dancers and accompany their movements.
Ballet: From the beginning of the evening, the backstage of Moulin Rouge comes alive as artists prepare for the performance. Dancers, trained in classical dance, jazz, and hip-hop, bring a unique style to the stage after many rehearsals, combining discipline, energy, and the tradition of Moulin Rouge.
