On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the release of the first chapter of Peter Jackson's trilogy in cinemas, Monnaie de Paris will present a collection of rare coins dedicated to the legendary series The Lord of the Rings in 2026.

From the Shire to Mordor, the dangerous journey of the Fellowship of the Ring is now engraved in metal, celebrating the mythical saga that has become a true pillar of the fantasy genre.

The engravings on these coins were created by the knight's workshop at Monnaie de Paris based on illustrations from the visual style guide of the film The Two Towers.

This coin depicts the culmination of the entire story, where the adventure ends, but paradoxically it seems that everything is lost.

On the obverse, Frodo appears burdened by the journey he has already undertaken, yet simultaneously frightened by Sauron's growing power over him through the Ring. As he reaches the end of his quest and catches sight of Mount Doom, he realizes that there will surely be no way back. Sauron's lidless Eye, perched atop the tower of Barad-dûr, tirelessly watches the progress of our heroes.

The reverse side of this coin depicts the One Ring, towering above Sauron's eye and enhanced with selective gilding. The secret inscription on the Ring in Elvish is revealed here by the flames of Mount Doom. Each reverse side is engraved with the nominal value of the coin, the hallmark of Monnaie de Paris, the letters RF (French Republic), the year 2026, and the copyright of New Line Production concerning the Lord of the Rings saga.
