Agatha Christie, born in 1890, is one of the most widely read authors in the world and remains an iconic figure in crime literature.

Agatha Christie is still recognized as the "queen of crime" and her works continue to inspire literature, theater, and cinema. In 2026, 50 years after her death, Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to the incredible legacy of Agatha Christie.

In the foreground on the obverse of this coin is Hercule Poirot, recognizable by his characteristic mustache. The detective, with eyes fixed on the scene behind him and a finger raised in a deductive pose, holds a book in front of him. On the cover are the words Murder of Roger Ackroyd written in letters formed from daggers, and on the spine is the name "Agatha Christie." This depiction is not insignificant, as it refers to the narrator of the novel, a key character in the plot. In the background, Roger Ackroyd is depicted in profile in a chair in front of his residence. His head is bowed. A knife is stuck in his back. The composition is completed by a telephone, a key element in solving the investigation.

The reverse side is common to the entire Art of the Quill series. It features several iconic quotes, such as Voltaire's "Le mieux est l’ennemi du bien," Dante Alighieri's "Lasciate ogne speranza voi ch'intrate," William Shakespeare's "To be or not to be: that is the question," or Nietzsche's "Was mich nicht umbringt, macht mich starker."
