Specification
The democratic revolution in November 1989 ended over 40 years of communist regime rule in Czechoslovakia and enabled the political, economic, and social transformation of society. It also brought about a resolution of the state-legal arrangement, which, due to differing positions of the decisive political forces in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, resulted in an agreement to divide the state.
On January 1, 1993, the independent Slovak Republic was established. From the first days of its existence, it was necessary to address complex economic problems, including the introduction of a new currency, to rapidly build a system of economic and political institutions, and to anchor the new state on the international scene. Today, we can state that the Slovak Republic has successfully integrated into international cooperation. Already in the year of its establishment, it became a member of the UN, the Council of Europe, and signed an association agreement with the European Communities. In 2000, it became a member of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, thus ranking among the 30 most developed countries in the world. The results of the elections in September 2002 created the conditions for the continuation of reforms and the continuity of foreign policy orientation. This was reflected in the fact that Slovakia was invited to join NATO in November 2002 and received an offer to join the European Union in December 2002. New perspectives in a united Europe thus opened up for Slovakia.

Obverse:

On the obverse of the coin, the state emblem is centrally placed, around which protective embracing hands create a gesture. The composition is completed by a stylized linden branch on the left side and the name of the state SLOVAK REPUBLIC and the year 2003 on the right side.

Reverse:
On the reverse, the outline of the map of Slovakia is depicted in the center of the coin field. At the top vertex, the nominal value of 1000 Sk is indicated, at the bottom vertex is a linden leaf and the inscription "10 YEARS OF THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC". At the left vertex are the years 1993 and 2003, indicating the year of establishment and the 10th anniversary of the Slovak Republic.
