Writer Svetozár Hurban Vajanský (16.1.1847 Hlboké - 17.8.1916 Martin) was a leading figure in Slovak public life at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, a bearer of the idea of national liberation and Slavic mutuality during the peak oppression of Slovaks in Hungary. With his collection Tatry a more, he significantly stimulated the advent of realism in Slovak poetry. In his novellas (Letiace tiene, Pustokvet, Blížence) and novels (Suchá ratolesť, Koreň a výhonky, Kotlín), he dealt with contemporary social issues. Through his editorial work, journalism, and artistic criticism in the fields of literature, as well as visual arts and theater, he influenced entire generations of Slovak artists, intellectuals, and politicians.

Obverse side:
In the center of the coin field is depicted the state emblem of the Slovak Republic. Around it, in a circular inscription, is the nominal value and name of the monetary unit, and in a circular inscription at the edge of the coin, the name of the state "SLOVAK REPUBLIC" and the year of minting.

Reverse side:
In the coin field, a fragment of the portrait of Svetozár Hurban Vajanský is centrally placed. To the right of the portrait, his name and surname, year of birth, and death are inscribed.
