Ľudovít Fulla (27.2.1902 - 21.4.1980) – painter, graphic artist, illustrator, set designer, and art educator, is one of the most significant representatives of Slovak visual art of the 20th century. He is an author whose work was crucial for the establishment of Slovak modern art. His artistic expression is characterized by his own poetics of the image based on flatness and decorativeness, knowledge of folk art, Eastern Slavic iconography, and world modernism. He participated in many international exhibitions and significantly contributed to the presentation of Slovak art. He is a recipient of several domestic and international awards. His painting "Song and Work" was awarded the Grand Prix at the World Exhibition in Paris (1937), and a tapestry created based on it won a gold medal at the World Exhibition EXPO 58 in Brussels. He also achieved international success as an author of avant-garde stage designs and illustrations for children's and youth books. The Ľudovít Fulla Gallery in Ružomberok, with a permanent exhibition of his work, is part of the Slovak National Gallery.
Obverse:
On the obverse of the coin, in the upper right part, is the state emblem and the year of minting 2002, below them is a detail from the painting "Song and Work" – the motif of a flying shepherd. In the left part is depicted a motif from the graphic sheet "Černoška". At the bottom edge of the coin is the name of the state SLOVAK REPUBLIC.
Reverse:
On the reverse of the coin is depicted a portrait of Ľudovít Fulla with characteristic elements of his work in the background, with the years of birth and death 1902 - 1980 and a facsimile signature. In the center at the right edge of the coin is its nominal value 200 Sk. The mark of the Kremnica Mint and the stylized initials of the author of the coin's artistic design, academic painter Emil Fulka, are to the left of the portrait at the bottom edge of the coin.
