Specification
Jozef Škultéty (25.11.1853 – 19.1.1948) – literary critic and historian, prose writer, linguist, editor, translator, and publicist, lifelong administrator of Matica slovenská and university professor - belongs to the leading figures of the Slovak national movement and fighters for national life and Slovak culture. He began by publishing short stories, but his literary-critical and literary-historical works are more significant. In the pages of Slovenské pohľady and Národné noviny, he presented and critically evaluated the works of contemporary and older Slovak authors, Slavic and other world literature. He also engaged in historical works. He dealt with linguistics, focusing mainly on grammar and the literary standard of Slovak. He undertook a study trip to Russia, established contacts with leading figures from Russia, Serbia, Poland, and Sweden, who often visited him. For more than half a century, his activities significantly influenced and guided the development and progress of political, cultural, literary, and scientific life in Slovakia.

Obverse side:
On the obverse side of the coin, the second building of Matica slovenská in Martin, where Jozef Škultéty worked for many years, is depicted in the center of the coin field. Above the building is the state emblem, below it is the name of the state Slovak Republic, and at the bottom edge of the coin is the year of minting 2003.

Reverse side:
On the reverse side of the coin, a portrait of Jozef Škultéty is depicted, with his name and surname Jozef Škultéty and the years indicating his birth and death below it. To the right of the portrait is the designation of the nominal value 200 Sk. At the lower left part of the portrait are the initials of the name and surname of the coin's design author Miroslav Ronai MR and the mark of the Kremnica Mint.
