Investment gold coin Franz Joseph I. 1892 (re-strike), nominal value of 4 Florin Material: Au 900/1000 Diameter: 19 mm Weight: 3.23 g Quality: BU IMAGE FOR ILLUSTRATION PURPOSES ONLY! Originally a silver-based currency from the 19th century, it was issued for free circulation within the Latin Monetary Union, which includes France, Belgium, Italy, and Switzerland. However, Austria minted its impressive 4 and 8 florin coins in gold until 1892. On the reverse of the coin, the year 1892 is engraved, when the Gulden (Florin) was finally replaced by the Crown. On the other hand, the Latin Monetary Union lasted until the beginning of the First World War. Its member countries agreed to issue coins of the same weight, alloy, size, and equivalent value. Austria signed a preliminary agreement in 1867 but did not meet the monetary criteria for membership. On the obverse of the coin is the profile of Emperor Franz Joseph, who ruled Austria-Hungary from 1848 to 1916. The minting was later resumed in unchanged form for commercial purposes, and the Vienna minting continues to this day.
