Euro coins Malta

Malta is a densely populated island nation in the Mediterranean Sea south of Sicily. It became a member state of the European Union on May 1, 2004. Euro coins replaced the original Maltese lira currency on January 1, 2008, in Malta. Malta does not have its own mint, so euro coins are minted in the Netherlands or France, and collector's coins bear the mark of these mints.
