Specification
Pieniny National Park (PIENAP), located to the northeast of the High Tatras, is known for its rich historical and artistic monuments, distinctive folklore, architecture, natural peculiarities, and beautiful natural scenery. The unique flora, fauna, and relief of the Pieniny in the Dunajec Gorge area have attracted botanists, zoologists, and geologists since the 18th century. Their efforts culminated in the creation of the Polish Pieniny National Park and the Slovak nature reserve in the Pieniny in 1932. This created the first bilateral protected area in Europe. The Slovak territory of this reserve was declared a national park in 1967. A unique tourist attraction is the raft ride through the Dunajec Gorge, which is one of the three state nature reserves in the park area.

On the obverse of the coin is depicted the butterfly Swallowtail, the state emblem, the name of the state Slovak Republic, and the year of minting 1997.

On the reverse, on a fragment of the butterfly's wings, is depicted the motif of the Pieniny National Park - Dunajec Gorge, the name Pieniny National Park, and the nominal value of the coin.
